Mainio chair bariatric
Wider chair with armrests for larger users

The Mainio bariatric chair was created specifically with larger users in mind. The chair is available in two different widths: 550 mm and 700 mm. Its seat height is higher than normal, at 520 mm. The chair always comes standard with armrests to facilitate sitting down and standing up. Additionally, the chair features a curved front edge on the seat that does not press against the legs.
The stable and extremely sturdy metal frame is long-lasting and available in many different frame colors. We sent the chairs to the Tampere University of Applied Sciences testing laboratory, where they underwent load tests with the Matertest FMT ST/DYN universal material testing machine. The average load test result for the narrower chair was 1651 kg, and for the wider one, it was as high as 2100 kg.
Thanks to its smooth surfaces, the chair is easy to clean. The seat and backrest are made of lacquered birch veneer. The parts can also be ordered stained.
The Mainio bariatric chair is available in un-upholstered, seat-upholstered, and seat and backrest upholstered versions.
Upholstered chairs can still be used even when the covers are being washed. The chairs do not have irritating velcro surfaces or other obstacles to use. The removable fastening method for the back upholstery is utility model protected and very easy to use.
Upholstery can be purchased and the chair's look easily updated later on. There are plenty of options and colors for fabrics. All our recommended fabrics have an abrasion resistance of at least 100,000 Martindale, a fire rating of SL 1, and are machine washable at 60 degrees for water-washable fabrics.

With these requirements, we set out to design the new Mainio furniture collection, based on our age-friendly and design for all philosophy, which also fulfills the needs of seniors. The development work resulted in Mainio receiving clever functional features that are design protected. The functionality considers both the furniture users, the caretakers, and environmental requirements. In terms of design, Mainio is new, home-like, light, and transformable.
The furniture is manufactured in Finland.

The padding must be removed before washing the upholstery. The padding must not be machine-washed.
